7th of June at 11:10 – 11:40 M Pulse stage, RAI.

Session description:

The opportunity with digital identity in Europe is to come to a uniform and standardized framework, applicable across verticals – finance, health, mobility, etc. The future belongs to a system that is capable of managing identities in the same way across a lot of local solutions and verticals. We have a variety of models to consider – centralised, decentralized, and self-sovereign systems. Self-sovereign identity will give complete ownership and control over one’s identity and data to the individual and that is the model we should aim to adopt. Moreover, is it possible that identity and payments will come together and become one thing? Same with authentication and verification. Although we are not ahead of the world, we aren’t late yet either. It’s time to come together and define a framework that will make borders within Europe obsolete, taking the experience with products and opportunities for European businesses to the next level.
