The Digital Trade Hub was presented in the United States

connect:ID, the world’s premier event for biometrics and identity management took place on April 30 – May 2, 2018 in Washington DC. The event consisted of the preeminent conference and expo for industry, government, and consumers to both see the latest innovations and to discuss the policy and technology issues that shape the concepts of identity.

Powered by Science Media Partners and the International Biometrics + Identity Association (IBIA), the conference was dedicated to explore how secure identity technology is enhancing authentication, wherever it is used – from aviation and border control, to healthcare, finance, education and countless other markets. connect: ID brings together leading experts from industry, as well as adopters and government officials, to explore the development and fusion of multiple advanced identity technologies focused on all aspects of identity technologies and the opportunities for their management in both the physical and digital worlds. The three-day event gave attendees the opportunity to hear from some of the key players in the identity technology marketplace, from thought leaders to end users, discussing future insights and case histories.

Key areas of focus include secure credentials, mobile ID and IoT. Also, such challenging issues as identity fraud, personal data theft, the intensification of national security threats, and cyber intrusions were considered as well as fundamental issues on whether there is too much confidentiality and what is the interaction between the confidentiality and anonymity. The issues of applying the biometrics, national identity concepts and expanding our digital identities via mobile technologies were highlighted.

Azerbaijan was presented in two sessions: “Mobile-ID: successfully increasing social, financial and technological inclusion with Asan İmza in Azerbaijan” and “Azerbaijan government digital trading hub”. The model of cross-border e-services carried out between the EU and Azerbaijan within European FutureTrust project was presented. The possibility of cross-border trading with states of American continent based on the existing experience with European countries was also discussed.

It should be mentioned that «B.EST Solutions» is a partner of the Digital Trade Hub of Azerbaijan and since 2017 has been an Associate Partner of the European FutureTrust project, including such countries as Germany, the UK, Portugal, Austria, Georgia, Turkey, South Africa, Serbia, Estonia, Norway, Israel and Switzerland. FutureTrust presented solutions to enable you to bring eIDAS connectivity to your applications and showcasing pilots of the project. Speakers have discussed both business and technical aspects of Futuretrust, as well as explaining the crucial need for cross-border trust. Mrs. Jana Krimpe, the CEO of Azerbaijan company «B.EST Solutions», and operator of Asan İmza, the national Mobile ID, presented the Digital Trade Hub, initiated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, created by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications of Azerbaijan, and aimed to develop the cross-border e-services between Azerbaijan, Europe and other countries which are Azerbaijan’s trade partners. The DTH is a unique platform for e-trading and providing cross-border e-services within the region.

The key speakers of the event were Bryan Hurd, the Vice President at Stroz Friedberg; Jonathan Turley, J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law, The George Washington University Law School; John Wagner, Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner, Office of Field Operations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection; Matt Quinn, Senior Advisor, Health Technology, Health Resources & Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Céline Canu, Head, Aviation Facilitation, IATA; Mark Lockie, connect:ID Conference Co-Chair and Managing Director, and other representatives of leading companies, specialized in digital identity, e-governments, European Association for e-Identity & Security and prestigious educational institutions of the USA and Europe.

During her speech, Mrs. Krimpe also presented innovative projects such as ASAN Service, innovative e-government, e-customs and e-tax services, including Asan İmza integration to the 195call-center. She introduced the AZINNEX consortium to the participants of the conference and discussed the possibilities of implementing Azerbaijan’s innovations in other countries. Azerbaijan Mobile ID ‘Asan İmza’ was launched in 2014. Due to the innovations and reforms implemented in the country, Azerbaijan has become one of the most transparent, business-friendly countries in the region, which was also positively reflected in the World Bank’s “Doing Business” rating.

Due to the mobility solution and easiness to use, «Asan İmza» is gaining popularity among citizens and business, and is the key component of m-government.
