On December 5, the Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel will host the AWITA 2018 awards ceremony – The Women in IT Award to the most successful women working in the ICT field of Azerbaijan. The ceremony, organized by the Club of Women of Azerbaijan in IT FEMMES DIGITALES in co-operation and with support of ITECA, which actively conducts various educational events to popularize the ICT sphere among girls and women of Azerbaijan, will gather together more than 500 professionals and guests. This year, the ceremony will be held on the traditional reception day, which is organized by the Azerbaijan International Exhibition and Conference “Telecommunications, Innovations and High Technologies” BakuTel 2018. Along with BakuTel, Microsoft Azerbaijan, Pasha Bank, Bakinity, ITV Tech, Lilac, R.I.S.K, Rabita Bank, Sinam, Ultra,B.est Solutions, Cybernet, Azer Agrar, MONT Azerbaijan, Tovuz Baltiya, STEP IT Academy и GoldenPay are partners and sponsors of AWITA 2018.
Representatives of various government agencies, universities, leading ICT companies, organizations as well as plenipotentiary ambassadors from different countries accredited in Azerbaijan will attend the event. Demonstration of the achievements of women in the field of information technology over the past year and identification of the most prominent figures in this area are planned during the ceremony.
On November 26, 2018, the founders of the FEMMES DIGITALES club represented by Yana Krimpe-CEO of B.EST Solutions Company, Nazilya Gashimzade- the leading manager of R.I.S.K Company, and Gunel Safaraliyeva- the general director of Mont Azerbaijan, participated in a special broadcast of CBC channel and talked about upcoming AWITA 2018 awards ceremony. As Mrs. Krimpe noted, thanks to AWITA event, we got to know more about female developers, programmers operating not only in IT companies, but also working in the public sector. Consequently two more nominations were added this year- a digital leader in the public sector, contributing to the development of digital society in Azerbaijan; and jointly with the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly with Azer Agrar, a digital leader in public-sector institution nomination for woman, who implements technological innovations in the agriculture sector. AWITA 2018 also coincides with the 4th anniversary of FEMMES DIGITALES Club. The founders of the Club express sincere gratitude for continuous support provided by the Ministry of Education, ASAN Xidmet, ADA University, STEP IT Academy and Barama.
The jury will convene a week before the awards ceremony with the purpose to determine the winners in 10 categories. The jury, consisting of 25 people, will include representatives of private organizations operating in the field of ICT, well-known universities, leading mass media, government agencies, etc.
Following nominations will be presented for the award: Innovator of the year; Startup of the year; Founder, CEO or CIO of the Year; Developer of the year; Employer of the year; Rural and remote contribution in IT; IT Teacher of the year; IT community/ IT education program/ IT education project; 2018 Industry Nomination: Women in AGTECH; Judges Choice.
The Women of Azerbaijan Club in IT FEMMES DIGITALES invites all women working in the ICT field to apply and participate, thereby to become a part of this grand event. Women and girls who turned 18 and are residents of Azerbaijan Republic are eligible to apply for the award. Nominees have to fill out requested form for nominating their candidacy for the award or submit a video application, with the duration no longer than 3 (three) minutes.
